Men’s Retreat 2026 • 9/18-19 • Ponderosa Retreat Center
Join the men of Calvary Englewood and our sister church Calvary Bethany for a one-night retreat at Ponderosa Retreat Center as we gather for fellowship, worship, teaching, and time away to be strengthened in our calling as men of God.
This year’s theme, "Men of the Trowel and Sword: Building and Defending For God’s Glory and Our Joy" comes from the book of Nehemiah, where God’s people rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem while facing real opposition: “…each labored on the work with one hand and held his weapon with the other." (Nehemiah 4:17)
Nehemiah reminds us that faithful men are called both to build and to stand firm. We are called to labor for the good of our homes, churches, and communities, while remaining watchful, courageous, and steadfast in the face of spiritual opposition.
Over the course of the retreat, our speakers will lead us through the story and themes of Nehemiah, helping us consider what it means to be men who build what God has entrusted to us while remaining ready to fight the good fight of faith.
The retreat will begin with dinner at 6:30p on Friday and conclude with lunch at 12:00p on Saturday. Men are encouraged to begin arriving between 5:00-5:30p on Friday to check in and get settled.

First Session/Dinner: Friday, 6:30 pm
Conclusion: Saturday after lunch at 12:00p
